This is Hank Scott for The PURE TRUTH Restored... |
Quite
a few years ago I came across a
little poem that I copied, and lost track of the
source, so I cannot credit the original author for
what follows, I'm sorry to say. In any case, I've rewritten
it to be a bit more suitable to feature in this
message and here's how it goes... Three primates sat 'round a banana
tree, discussing things as
they're said to be; Said one to the others, 'Now listen you
two, there's a certain
rumor that just can't be true; That man descended from our noble race
-- why the very idea is
a total disgrace! No primate ever deserted his wife, starved her babies
or ruined her life; And you've never heard of a mother
primate, to leave her babies
with others 'til late, Or pass them on from one to
another, 'til they scarcely
know who is their mother. And another thing you'll never see
-- an ape build a fence
'round a banana tree; And let the bananas go to waste, forbidding all other
ape's a taste. Why if I put a fence around the
tree, starvation would
force you to steal from me! Here's another thing an ape won't do
-- go out at night and
get on a stew; Or use a gun, a club or a knife, to take some other
primate's life. Yes, man descended -- the ornery
cuss; but brother,
he sure didn't descend from us! Of course, there's one thing
that bothers me about this humorous poem, which is
the fact that it assumes primates can talk and
reason, or even have a viewpoint on an intellectual
concept, such as the true origin of their (or our)
species. It seems to me that this is a
bit presumptuous, considering the nature of the
topic and its implications. But be that as it may, I
thought this was funny enough to share with you,
and my apologies to the unknown original author,
whoever you were or are, for not giving credit
where credit is due.
