"Retaining Our Creator
In Your Knowledge"

TO "retain" means "to keep possession of; not lose; continue to have, practice, or recognize" and "not abolish, discard, nor alter," and also "keep in one's memory."   If you think retaining the knowledge of your Creator is worthwhile, isn't it about time you learned exactly what that means?

OW do you retain our Creator in your knowledge (Romans 1:28), and thereby avoid the foolish thinking and a heart that is darkened or reprobate (op. cit., and verse 21)?

The answer lies in the Creator's law, commandments and statutes.   Since the Creator's law best expresses His will, if you ignore or forget His law, you also ignore and forget your Creator in like manner.

An Unrepentant Nation

Violating the Creator's law -- or commandments -- is the root definition of sin (I "John" 3:4), and the more people are taught to ignore, or are never taught and remain wholly ignorant of, that law the more people have forgotten salvation and their Creator.

Nowhere is this more true than for those who foolishly say they believe in a "personal Savior" yet have no idea what they are supposed to be saved from, as defined by the law that itself defines the nature of sin and sets the standard for righteous conduct.

Telling such people about the dire consequences in store for such a nation may (usually will) be viewed as some alleged act of "treason" or "unpatriotic" disloyalty, at the very least.

Those who think this, however, are themselves the worst enemies of such a nation; for this attitude -- that a nation and its people must never be criticized -- is what will inevitably result in the ruination, if not utter destruction, of that nation.

On the contrary, to accurately point out a nation's crimes -- or sins against our Creator's law -- and the certain future destruction of that nation if its people refuse to repent of their willful, hurtful, arrogant conduct, does not mean that a prophet hopes for or desires to see that nation destroyed.

Quite the opposite, in fact.   That man or woman is to be counted among the most loyal and patriotic toward that nation, for they alone are willing to risk their life -- possibly incurring the wrath of a sin-ladden people who want to pin the blame for their increasing curses upon someone other than themselves -- on behalf of the nation's survival and better good.

The word "patriot" derives from the word "pater," and means: "of one's fathers."   America's founding fathers, for instance, would instantly recognize the sins and errors of the people that are today known collectively as "the United States," and would most likely take up arms against such evils (and be instantly branded as "terrorists" or "enemies of the state"), were they alive today.

Not that taking up arms is any solution to the problems America now faces in the, apparently, twilight years of its existence.

A true patriot would recognize what is needed in America today is a change of heart and spirit, to one based on the belief of our spiritual forebear, Abraham.   He retained our Creator in his knowledge by remembering His commandments, and then acting on his belief to become and stay obedient.

If more Americans understood and followed this type of faith, the United States would be less divided and divisive, and America would see its blessings return, and its curses vanish.

And make no mistake, a nation's enemies have no power to harm a nation or its people, who fall under the blessings of our Creator's protective hand.   On the other hand, no nation can protect itself against the destructive actions of its growing glut of enemies -- created by its own callous actions and disrespect for the peoples, customs, laws, sovereignty, sanctity, and safety of other nations from its baneful influence -- when that nation falls increasingly under the Creator's curses for disobedience against His law.

How Did We Get This Way?

America's problems began with its wicked clergy, particularly those who have never been fond of keeping our Creator's law, but rather judge the law as unworthy of their notice or attention (cf. James 4:11).

And by considering the Creator's law as "done away" with, or "Old Testament," such wicked ministers have succeeded in cementing wickedness -- and its inevitable consequences and curses -- into the minds and hearts of a now desperately wicked people.

Americans, as a consequence, are now an adulterous, idolatrous and rebellious people (cf. James 4:4), who like nothing better than a "good" fight or quarrel (verse 1).   They have forgotten, or never known, that "The Almighty One opposes proud mockers, but gives grace to the humble" (James 4:6; quoted from Proverbs 3:34).

When such a nation turns wicked -- by turning away from our Creator's laws -- it deserves no security, and will ultimately forfeit whatever strength it had, physically, economically, militarily, morally, and spiritually.

Eventually, such a vain, conceited and easily deceived people will turn against one another, and finally be overrun by their many enemies that are even now in their midst, and are growing in power and numbers with every passing day, who will arise and mercilessly destroy or enslave their hated adversaries when they are weakest and most vulnerable.

All the more certain is this outcome the more Americans throw off the last vestiges of true liberty and freedom for the ever-tightening shackles of elusive, increasingly despotic, and self-destructive so-called "security."

Such, in reality, insecurity has its roots and origin in the poverty of understanding and retention of our Creator's law in our hearts and minds, and particularly as displayed in our motives and actions, individually and as a nation.

Where Do We Go From Here?

A people and nation burdened by the sins of their ignorance and arrogance against the Creator's law of peace, tranquility and heavenly protection against unjust enemies, has also forgotten -- or, in recent memory, never known -- the true and only independence a free people can ever know: the freedom from sin and its disastrous consequences.

This will only be the case, however, for a people who consider it worthwhile to retain our Creator in their knowledge, by remembering, enforcing and putting into action His perfect law of liberty (James 1:25); or as the NIV translation puts it: "the perfect law that gives freedom."

Like it or not, we will be judged by the "perfect law of freedom," so you would do well to remember to speak and act accordingly (James 2:12).
