"Science Fact... The Radiant Face of Moses"

ll too often, modern know-it-not scientific types will declare certain scriptural facts to be myth, fancies or fallacies, especially those that seem incredible and "far-fetched," or not indicating what we today call common "reality."

Sometimes a fact or possibility based on the best available evidence will surface that throws out all the speculation about the supposed fictional aspects of scripture, revealing it is often actually modern "scientific" beliefs contrary to scripture that are, in fact, fictitious, wrong or misleading.

Glowing Faces

One such feature linking the oldest with the interim and even the latest scriptures -- all describing a similar circumstance and condition in nearly identical terms -- is the accounts of faces and bodies that shine or glow with radiant light.

This is, of course, utter nonsense to most of those who have never seen or experienced such a thing, who believe they accept and admit only what is supported by hard and plentiful evidence.

However, many things are denounced, by so-called "mainstream" science, as hoaxes or delusions, simply because they are rarely or never seen in our time.

At the same time, many commonplace things, such as memory, pain, consciousness, sleep and dreams are not easily explained in traditional terms, yet they are accepted because they are too commonplace to be denied (to paraphrase orthopedic surgeon and pioneering researcher of bioelectromagnetism and regeneration, Robert O. Becker, from his seminal book The Body Electric, 1985, p. 265).

In the Exodus account of Moses' and the Yasraelites' departure from Egypt, we read what at first appears to be an "impossible" circumstance.   We read that:

"29. When Moses came down from Mount Sinai with the two tablets of the Testimony in his hands, he was not aware that his face was radiant because he had spoken with Yahveh.

"30. When Aaron and all the Yasraelites saw Moses, his face was radiant, and they were afraid to come near him.   31. But Moses called to them; so Aaron and all the leaders of the community came back to him, and he spoke to them.

"32. Afterward all the Yasraelites came near him, and he gave them all the commands Yahveh had given him on Mount Sinai.   33. When Moses finished speaking to them, he put a veil over his face.

"34. But whenever he entered Yahveh's presence to speak with Him, he removed the veil until he came out.   And when he came out and told the Yasraelites what he had been commanded, 35. they saw that his face was radiant.   Then Moses would put the veil back over his face until he went in to speak with Yahveh" (Exodus 34:29-35).

New and Old Testament Corroboration

This account was referenced uncritically by the Apostle Paul, in his second letter to the Corinthian congregants, in which he reveals that this radiance gradually faded, as a reflection of Creator Yahveh's glory:

"13. We are not like Moses, who put a veil over his face to keep the Yasraelites from staring at it while the radiance was fading away....   17. Now Yahveh is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Sovereign is, there is freedom.   18. And we, who with unveiled faces all reflect Yahveh's glory, are being transformed into His likeness with ever-increasing glory, which comes from Yahveh, who is the Spirit" (II Corinthians 3:13, 17-18).

The prophet Daniel, in a dream-vision, saw what Paul was describing in a limited fashion, fully and openly, as related in his written account of this experience:

"9. As I looked, thrones were set in place, and the Ancient of Days took His seat.   His clothing was as white as snow; the hair of His head was white like wool.   His throne was flaming with fire [lightning?], and its wheels were all ablaze.

"10. A river of fire was flowing, coming out from before Him.   Thousands upon thousands attended Him; ten thousand times ten thousand [100 million] stood before Him.   The court was seated, and the books were opened" (Daniel 7:9-10).

In a much later vision account, much like Daniel's, the disciple/Apostle Yahvhanan ("John") described a very similar scene:

"2. At once I was in the Spirit, and there before me was a throne in heaven with someone sitting on it.   3. And the One who sat there had the appearance of jasper and carnelian.   A rainbow, resembling an emerald, encircled the throne....

"5. From the throne came flashes of lightning, rumblings and peals of thunder.   Before the throne, seven lamps were blazing.   These are the seven Spirits of Yahveh.   6. Also, before the throne was a sea of glass, clear as crystal" (Revelation 4:2-3, 5-6).

Following this, in the fifth chapter of Revelation and elsewhere, are similar accounts of scrolls or books being opened (cf. Revelation 5:1-5, 20:11-15).

The same volcanic river is also described as a lake of fire near the throne of judgment, described in Revelation 20:10, 14-15, and before that in Daniel 7:11, and also in Revelation 19:20, and again in Revelation 21:8.

Remarkable Similarities

We read an interesting allusion to the Ancient of Days seated upon the throne, and to the Savior, who is also called "the Lamb" by the Apostle/prophet Yahvhanan, that is interesting in light of the revelation concerning radiated light:

"22. I did not see a temple in the city, because Sovereign Yahveh of hosts and the Lamb are its temple.   23. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of Yahveh gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.   24. The nations will walk in its light....   25. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there" (Revelation 21:22-25).

This directly relates back to the first description of the Lamb, found in this same prophetic book, in which we learn:

"12. I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me.   And when I turned, I saw seven golden lampstands, 13. and among the lampstands was someone 'like a Son of Man,' dressed in a robe reaching down to His feet and with a golden sash around His chest.

"14. His hair and head were white like wool, as white as snow, and His eyes were like blazing fire.   15. His feet were like bronze glowing in a furnace, and His voice was like the sound of rushing waters.   16. ...His face was like the sun shining in its brilliance" (Revelation 1:12-16).

And the similarities between this remarkable account and another, earlier, vision described by the prophet Daniel -- over six centuries previously -- are striking.   There, in the scriptural book recounting Daniel's amazing experience, we read:

"4. On the twenty-fourth day of the first new-cycle ["month"], as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris, 5. I looked up, and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of the finest gold around His waist.

"6. His body was like chrysolite, His face like lightning, His eyes like flaming torches, His arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and His voice like the sound of a multitude" (Daniel 10:4-6).

A Frighteningly Identical Experience

In an even earlier, or possibly even contemporary, account the prophet Yazkiel ("Ezekiel") described, using very similar language and terminology, a nearly identical encounter with the very same being, as follows:

"4. I looked, and I saw a windstorm coming out of the north -- an immense cloud with flashing lightning and surrounded by brilliant light.   The center of the fire looked like glowing metal, 5. and in the fire was what looked like four living creatures....

"7. Their legs were straight, their feet were like those of a calf and gleamed like burnished bronze....   13. The appearance of the living creatures was like burning coals of fire or like torches.   Fire moved back and forth among the creatures, it was bright and lightning flashed out of it.   14. The creatures sped back and forth like flashes of lightning.

"15. As I looked at the living creatures, I saw a wheel [circular object, UFO] on the ground beside each creature with its four faces [aspects, sides].   16. This was the appearance and structure of the wheels: They sparkled like chrysolite, and all four looked alike....

"22. Spread out above the heads of the living creatures was what looked like an expanse, sparkling like ice, and awesome....   24. When the creatures moved, I heard the sound of their wings, like the roar of rushing waters, like the voice of the Almighty, like the tumult of an army.   When they stood still they lowered their wings.

"25. Then there came a voice from above the expanse over their heads as they stood with lowered wings.   26. Above the expanse over their heads was what looked like a throne of sapphire, and high above on the throne was a figure like that of a man.

"27. I saw that from what appeared to be His waist up He looked like glowing metal, as if full of fire, and brilliant light surrounded Him.   28. Like the appearance of a rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the radiance around Him.

"29. This was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of Yahveh.   When I saw it, I fell face down, and I heard the voice of someone speaking..." (Ezekiel 1:4-5, 7, 13-16, 24-28).

Falling face down, often in a dead faint, in the face of such an apparently awesome and frightening sight, was not an uncommon response by these prophets:

"While He was speaking to me, I was in [fell into] a deep sleep, with my face to the ground [fainted].   Then He touched me and raised me to my feet" (Daniel 8:18).

"7. I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; the men with me did not see it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves.   8. So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless.   9. Then I heard Him speaking, and as I listened to Him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground [he fainted].

"10. A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees.   11. ...I stood up trembling" (Daniel 10:7-10, 11).

"15. While he was saying this to me I bowed with my face toward the ground and was speechless.   16. Then the one who looked like a man touched my lips, and I opened my mouth and began to speak.   I said to the one standing before me, 'I am overcome with anguish because of the vision, my Sovereign, and I am helpless.

"17. 'How can I, your servant, talk with you, my Sovereign?   My strength is gone and I can hardly breathe.'

"18. Again the one who looked like a man touched me and gave me strength.   19. 'Do not be afraid, oh man highly esteemed,' He said.   'Peace!   Be strong now, be strong.'

"When He spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, 'Speak, my Sovereign, since you have given me strength'" (Daniel 10:15-19).

    Likewise:

"When I saw Him, I fell at His feet as though dead [collapsed in a dead faint].   Then He placed His right hand on me and said: 'Do not be afraid...'" (Revelation 1:17).
Science Fallacy or Fact?

What is the likelihood of a human being's skin shining or glowing with radiance from within?   Is there any sound scientific basis for this, that explains how such a thing can exist, and has actually happened historically?

Yes, believe it or not, there is a very sound reason and explanation for this remarkable property and occurrence, even if the exact mechanism or means by which it can exist is at present unknown to us.

Perhaps without realizing it, since he tends to believe in the mistaken dogma of evolution concerning the alleged origin of life on earth, as most scientists do these days, author and researcher Robert O. Becker, in his investigations into electromagnetism and the foundation of life, as set forth in his astounding and thought-provoking book, The Body Electric, observed:

"We found no evidence that the Kirlian image was related to the living state.   Nor did we find that it could serve as a 'screen' on which might be reflected some invisible field or aura, another possibility that had been suggested.

"This is not to say that the aura occasionally perceived by some people around other organisms is imaginary.   Things that appear so often in folklore often turn out to have a basis in fact.   However, the body's magnetic field is far too weak to account for it.   Our biofields, even if they were many times stronger, couldn't possibly emit light, but an appropriately sensitive magnetic detector in the brain, if it had nerve connections to the visual cortex, might 'see' the magnetic field, in a manner of speaking.   In a similar way astronauts in space 'see' Cerenkov radiation -- flashes of light that have been traced to the passage of high-energy cosmic rays through the retina.

"On the other hand, the aura could literally be a form of light, perhaps at frequencies invisible to all but a few of us.   The discovery of light-emitting diodes is still fairly recent [circa 1985].   As you will recall, we found that bone happens to have such properties.   The point of that experiment was its evidence that bone contains semiconduction PN junction diodes.   There may well be other diodes in living things.   The relationship between the nerve endings and the skin is an interesting one in this context.   The skin-nerve interface -- the closest normal equivalent to the neuroepidermal junction that triggers regeneration [the regrowth of entire limbs in some species, and even of severed fingertips in very young children] -- may well be a diode.   If so, the proper level of current could cause emission of light from the skin" (Becker and Selden, The Body Electric, pp. 267-68; emphasis added).

In fact, there is also some anecdotal evidence of this hidden reality in the otherwise mysterious and, thankfully, fairly rare occurrence known as human self- or auto-combustion, in which a lethal, but curiously not intense, fire erupts from within the hapless victims of this malady -- due to an unknown cause -- that forces their body to erupt into flames and almost instantly be consumed and incinerated by an inner fire unlike any other known to modern science.

Eyewitnesses have actually seen this happen, such as the young 19-year-old woman, who self-incinerated on a dance floor of a London discotheque on an October evening in the late 1950s, whose dance partner -- his hands bandaged from attempted to beat out the flames that engulfed her -- later testified at the inquest:

"'I saw no one smoking on the dance floor.   There were no candles on the tables, and I did not see her dress catch fire from anything.   I know it sounds incredible, but it appeared to me that the flames burst outward, as if they originated within her body.'   Other witnesses agreed with him, and the mystified coroner's verdict was eventually 'death by misadventure, caused by a fire of unknown origin.'"

"Electrical engineers have pointed out that no known form of electrostatic discharge could possibly have such an effect.   The fate of the old woman in her cottage, and that of the truck driver, are also in flat contradiction of natural law; both bodies were utterly consumed by fire, yet their inflammable [or flammable] surroundings were completely undamaged by the flames that engulfed them" (Strange Stories, Amazing Facts, Reader's Digest Association, 1976, 1977, pp. 387-88, 389).

Spontaneous combustion, as it is commonly called, can even be tame enough to only cause smoke to erupt from skin pores, as witnessed by one married couple, the male of which twice came perilously close to combusting (as reported by the couple themselves, on a televised program investigating such strange phenomenon a few years back).

When you realize that all the cells of our bodies store oxygen, and that hydrogen, like oxygen -- both of which are derived from common water and the atmosphere around us -- is also a basic building block of life (just as our bodies are composed of better than three-fourths water), and that hydrogen occurs naturally in all organic compounds, it is little wonder that hardly any remains are found of most victims of S.C., since both oxygen and hydrogen in their gaseous form can be highly combustible (and when combined, create a massive explosion the result of which creates water, which is made of two parts hydrogen and one part oxygen).

Considering Becker's discoveries relating to the neural and cellular bioelectrical, biomagnetic and nuclear nature of microwave impulses that make thoughts, feelings and conscious life as we know it possible -- not to mention static electrical discharges -- perhaps the real wonder is that there aren't many more incidents of spontaneous combustion than there are.

Losing the War for Verity

Harold Saxton Burr, a member of the faculty of the Yale University School of Medicine for forty-three years, teaching anatomy and neuro-anatomy, stated, based on the results of experiments conducted by himself and other contemporary medical researchers:

"[I]t soon became clear that every living system possesses an electrical field of great complexity....   The electrical phenomena associated with the field must be considered to be a primary attribute of Nature, a cause of the arrangement of all the component parts in Nature, not only living but also non-living systems.   In other words...the Field is basic with the necessary power and directional properties to determine the processes inherent in the growth and development of any living system.

"The field is primary and from it stem all the myriads of consequences which are to be seen in Nature....

"Energy...is a basic requirement, indifferent to the direction in which it flows.   It is important, therefore, to realize that in the development of growth and development of the organism there are forces in addition to the undirected properties of chemical changes, factors which give direction to the flow of energy.

"It cannot be denied that morphogenesis is directed.   This is true of the whole organism and also of its constituent parts.   Moreover, the very direction of development implies a necessary relationship between the units of which the system is composed, a relationship which imparts to the organism that quality which makes the whole greater than the sum of its parts." (Blueprint for Immortality: The Electric Patterns of Life, 1972, pp. 43-44, 58; emphasis added).

Science as a whole, on the other hand, has stumbled badly and cannot seem to arise from its ignorant, self-imposed evolutionary deceit and conceit to see a world, and a solar system, and the entire universe and even all of creation -- things unseen as well as seen -- are in perpetual motion, motivated by an unseen force of electrifying potential, much greater than anything we could possibly imagine.

Pockmarked surfaces of the moon, Venus, and even comets and asteroids, evidence an electrical arcing of vast, extra-planetary scope, and our sun -- in fact, every star that exists in the heavens -- consists not of burning gasses somehow able to combust in the total vacuum of space (real science fiction), but of massive electrical storms billions of times more powerful than the force of gravity, fed from a hidden but pervasive source of power exterior to those globes of near-endless radiant energy.

There is an originator of all these things, an "electrified" being who exists in an entirely different, unseen yet very real, plane of existence -- in the realm we call "spirit" -- of an alternate universe that is, in fact, the enduring foundation or matrix upon which all physical matter is built and owes its continued existence from one moment to the next.

Without this endless source of energy, constantly in motion, always intelligently creating, sustaining and maintaining what we call physical matter, and life itself, through the steadfast laws that govern even chemical reactions (among other laws that regulate standards for moral conduct, for instance), nothing we know would or could exist.

Most scientists have utterly failed to recognize the evidence before their faces, because they have been too preoccupied with matters of far more mundane, and of far less important, transitory "significance" (in their own limited view), attempting to snag credit for "discoveries" that, more often than not, are mere flawed imaginations devoid of any provable truth.

The Shocking Truth About Scientific Research

Some scientists are not above robbing the pioneers of previously unknown principles, techniques or concepts, and taking the credit for these while trashing the reputations of the actual original discoverers.

As Robert Becker noted, based on his own experiences, referring to "science as a whole," he said: "It's a ponderous beast, making enormous changes in the way we live but agonizingly slow to change its own habits and viewpoints when they become outmoded" (The Body Electric, Postscript: "Political Science," p. 330; emphasis added).

As he went on to wryly observe: "Many a genius has been destroyed by people of lesser talent defending the status quo."   And admitting: "...that scientists as a group are at least as subject to human failings as people in other walks of life," Becker and co-author Gary Selden sagely remarked: "It has been like this throughout the history of science.   Many, perhaps even most, of its practitioners have been greedy, power-hungry, prestige-seeking, dogmatic, pompous asses, not above political chicanery and outright lying, cheating and stealing" (ibid., p. 331).

After citing several abundant and notable historical examples of this, Becker quotes the then chairman of psychiatry at the University of Kansas, about the failure of educational organizations too closely tied to the government, and now too controlled by grant and endowment apron strings to be trusted as independent voices of reason or insight:

"Donald Goodwin . . . has even put it in the form of a law of exasperation: 'If it's trivial, you can probably study it.   If it's important, you probably can't'" (ibid., p. 333).

Then, noting the warlike battle for dominance of ideas, in which mediocrity, charlatanism, and outright fraud have often seemed to win decisive battles in this "enlightened" age, Becker adds:

"Sometime during or after the battle, it generally becomes obvious that the iconoclast was right.   The counterattack then shifts toward historical revision.   Establishment members publish papers claiming the new ideas for themselves and omitting all references to the true originator.   The heretic's name is remembered only in connection with a condescending catchphrase, while his or her own research programs, if any remain, are defunded and the staff dispersed.   The facts of the case eventually emerge, but only at immense toll on the innovator's time and energy.

"To those who haven't tried to run a lab, these may seem like harsh words, unbelievable, even paranoid.   Nevertheless, these tactics are commonplace, and I've had personal experience with each and every one of them" (ibid., pp. 334-35).

Likewise, this author has also had personal experience with the selfsame carnal activities in the "marketplace" of religious ideas, understanding and revelations.

I had some of these (after I approached the perpetrator and offered to share the results of my research, and at that time a decade of teaching the discovery, solely by myself) -- which were revealed through direct inspiration and diligent research efforts at great cost and expense -- appropriated without attribution, and my name vilified and my reputation trashed, at the same time my conclusions were presented as their own "discovery," and the credit given to others.

(The time was the late '80s, the thief's name was W.F. Dankenbring, and the subject was the proper identification of Manasseh -- the "great nation" -- with Great Britain, and of Ephraim -- "the company," or uniting, "of nations," or states -- with the United States; and its spawn, the United Nations -- which I have taught since the late '70s, without contradiction or any scriptural "proofs" to the contrary, from other religious researchers, evangelists, pastors or ministers I've shared my research with over the years.)

After giving many of his own considerable personal examples and experiences, some of which are humorous and entertaining, in his often creative attempts to work around the obstacles thrown in his path by his own opponents, Becker concluded:

"I've taken the trouble to recount my experience in detail for two reasons.   Obviously, I want to tell people about it because it makes me furious.   More important, I want the general public to know that science isn't run the way they read about it in the newspapers and magazines [or hear about it on the broadcast media, or see in the movies].   I want lay people to understand that they cannot automatically accept scientists' pronouncements at face value, for too often they're self-serving and misleading.   I want our citizens, nonscientists as well as investigators, to work to change the way research is administered.   The way it's currently funded and evaluated, we're learning more and more about less and less, and science is becoming our enemy instead of our friend" (ibid., p. 347; emphasis and parenthetical comment added).

When you get right down to it, in fact, we are all becoming our own worst enemies, for this is also how government institutions, religions and centers of learning in every field are becoming, or have already become; corrupted by these same forces of mediocrity, error and misconstrued, misattributed and often entirely mistaken "knowledge."

A Stranger World Than We Presently Know

There are, in fact, stranger things in our world that are dreamt of in the paradigm of modern scientific philosophy, to paraphrase Shakespeare (who very well may not have been the author of the works attributed to his name).

Reality, to us primitives, often seems miraculous, and we are often prone to worshipping the terrestrial dominant forces that wield some of the hidden laws of creation -- often concealed by those who wish to gain and maintain dominance over the gullible masses -- that to the uninitiated appear impossible, but for alleged superhuman powers, intellect or supposed wisdom.

On the other hand, the world as a whole tends to turn its back on the all-encompassing reality of creation as evidence of an all-knowing, forever-living, intelligent originator, author and sustainer of all that exists, in heaven (the furthest, vast reaches of "outer" space) as well as upon the earth.

Once we awake to the true nature of this reality, the fact that a person's face really can shine with radiant light becomes much less mystical, and far more understandable.

Understanding, however -- if it isn't combined with respectful reverence for the Creative Being behind all of creation -- can cause us to discount the miraculous, truly awesome, incredibly amazing, even stupefying, stunning and astounding source of all power, energy, and even life.

It is never wise to think more highly of ourselves than we ought, or to believe we are the epitome of all knowledge, understanding, wisdom or sagacity, discerning and gifted, but without acknowledging the Supreme originator and author of all true insight, understanding and prudent but uncommon sense.

What might seem like science fiction today will one day be commonly accepted as known fact, while the many myths of modern science will crumble, disintegrate and, finally, be forgotten entirely, in the face of a more perfect understanding of such things as presently seem mythological to most modern skeptics and cynics.

In that new, better and perfect world that is coming -- unlike and superior to every fictional utopia to date, dreamed up by secular scientists -- the fact that some beings (and even rare humans) can and do radiate and glow with a light of internal, as well as external, origin will no longer seem so far-fetched, fanciful, delusional or illusory.
